Proper Battle Armor

I have been studying 1st Samuel for the last couple of evenings and have gotten revelation on so many things. When I was reading this scripture God spoke to me and said..."Don't let people put the wrong battle armor on you".Often times it is our first instinct to turn to people for advice when we run into a problem in life. But are they giving you the correct armor for battling that situation? 

People are quick to tell you that you need to tell somebody off....cut somebody out of your life....beat somebody up....have a drink and it'll make you feel better...that person cheated on you so go ahead and cheat on them...you need to get a gun to protect yourself. 

But often times that advise is the farthest thing from what we need to be doing. The flesh way is usually the easiest way. Picking up a sword or a gun makes more sense then picking up a slingshot and some rocks doesn't it? But if we do it the flesh way who gets the glory? I'm sure that many people would have told Jesus that it was ridiculous that he would go to the cross.. that he didn't need to do it.. and that any real God wouldn't want him to do something like that. And he very well could have at any time denied the calling that God had placed on his life. But he fought the greatest battle with grace and humility. He said not a word when he was accused and instead said nothing knowing that God was his defense.

What kind of battle armor are your friends and your family trying to put on you? Does it fit with what God is saying? Before any battle is ever fought the first question we should ask ourselves is... what would Jesus do?
